Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Hi, I’m Sheila Hayes, the mom behind SheMamaMaps (shemamamaps.com), a family-travel blog based in Tampa, Florida. I want you to feel as comfortable here as you would asking a friend for travel tips. So here, in plain language, is what information I collect when you visit, subscribe, or get in touch, how I use it, who helps me run the site, and the choices you have.

If you have a question about your privacy at any point, email me at Travel@SheMamaMaps.com. (For brand and business inquiries, partnerships@shemamamaps.com is still the best address.)

Quick summary

  • I collect the details you give me (like your email address for the newsletter, or your business details when you send a partnership inquiry) and some basic usage data about how people use the site.
  • Google Analytics cookies are used only if you accept them in my cookie banner. Jetpack Stats counts visits on every page and may use its own cookies regardless of your banner choice.
  • Some links are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. My affiliate partners’ scripts (Stay22 and Travelpayouts) load on every page, whatever you choose in the cookie banner, and may use cookies or similar technologies. Section 3 explains how you can limit this.
  • I don’t sell your personal information.
  • You can ask me to show you, correct, or delete your information at any time.

1. Who I am

SheMamaMaps is a family-travel blog run by me, Sheila Hayes, in Tampa, Florida, USA. When this policy says “I,” “me,” or “SheMamaMaps,” it means me and this website. I’m responsible for the personal information collected through shemamamaps.com.

You can also write to me at: SheMamaMaps, 7402 N. 56th St., Ste. 355-425, Tampa, FL 33617.

2. What information I collect

a) Information you give me

  • Newsletter sign-ups. When you subscribe, I collect your email address only. I don’t ask for your name. My newsletter is email-only and runs on Jetpack / WordPress.com Newsletter, provided by Automattic. Your email address is sent to and stored by WordPress.com so they can deliver my emails.
  • Partnership inquiries. Brands, tourism boards, and businesses can contact me through the Partnership Inquiry form on my Work With Me page. The form runs on WPForms. It asks for:
    • your name, brand or company, and work email
    • your brand website or social handle
    • the partnership type, a campaign overview, and the deliverables you’re asking for (for example, channels and paid ad use)
    • usage rights or paid-ad requirements
    • campaign timeline or travel dates
    • your budget (USD)
    • your confirmation that guaranteed content and usage rights are paid services
When you submit the form, your answers are emailed to me at partnerships@shemamamaps.com. They are not saved on my website. This is mostly business contact information, but it can still identify you as a person, so I protect it the same way.
  • Emails you send me. If you email me directly (for example at Travel@SheMamaMaps.com or partnerships@shemamamaps.com), I keep your message and contact details so I can reply.

b) Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, my site automatically receives some technical information when you visit, such as your browser and device type, your IP address (which gives an approximate location like your city or country), the pages you view, how long you stay, and how you found the site (for example, a search engine or social media). Some of this comes through cookies and similar technologies, explained in section 3 and in my Cookie Policy.

I don’t ask for, and please don’t send me, sensitive information such as health details, government ID numbers, or payment card details through my forms.

3. Cookies and similar tracking technologies

Cookies are small text files saved in your browser. Similar technologies (like scripts, pixels, and local storage) do comparable jobs. Here’s what my site uses:

  • Essential: remembering your cookie choices (set by WPConsent, my cookie consent tool) for 30 days.
  • Statistics (analytics): Google Analytics 4 (through MonsterInsights) and Jetpack Stats (by Automattic) help me see which guides are useful. Google Analytics uses Google Consent Mode: until you accept, it’s told not to store analytics cookies, although Google may still receive basic signals without a cookie (such as that a page was viewed). Jetpack Stats counts visits on every page and may use its own cookies regardless of your banner choice.
  • Affiliate / marketing scripts: Stay22 (Let Me Allez) and Travelpayouts (Drive) run on every page of my site as soon as the page loads, without waiting for your cookie choice. Choosing “Reject” in my banner does not stop them. They turn some of my travel links into affiliate links and help my partners track bookings made through those links. To do that, they may set or read cookies or use similar technologies, and may collect information such as the pages you visit, the links you click, your device and browser, and your IP address.
  • Embedded content: videos and posts embedded from YouTube and TikTok load normally when you open a page that includes them, and those companies may set their own cookies (see section 5).

When you first visit, my cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject, or choose Preferences. Rejecting limits analytics cookies. Your choice is saved for 30 days, and you can change it anytime using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of every page.

How to limit affiliate tracking and other third-party cookies:

  • Block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings, or use your browser’s tracking protection or private browsing mode.
  • Use a content or tracker blocker extension.
  • Use the partners’ own opt-out options: Stay22 (cookie and opt-out choices) · Travelpayouts (cookie policy).

If you block these tools, the site still works. Some links may simply not be affiliate links, and I may not get credit for a booking.

For the full list of cookies, their purposes, and how long they last, see my Cookie Policy.

4. Affiliate links and affiliate disclosure

SheMamaMaps is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and book or buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend places and products I’ve used or would genuinely suggest to a friend. Commissions never change my honest opinions.

The affiliate programs and platforms I use include:

  • Stay22, including its Let Me Allez tool, which can automatically turn some travel links on my site into affiliate links
  • Travelpayouts (including Drive and Travelpayouts widgets)
  • Viator
  • GetYourGuide (some GetYourGuide links go through Stay22)
  • Amazon (I’m a member of the Amazon Associates program)

How affiliate tracking works. To know that a booking came from my site, these partners use cookies, scripts, or tracking codes in the link. Stay22 and Travelpayouts do this on my site (on every page, as described in section 3); Viator, GetYourGuide, and Amazon do it mainly on their own sites after you click. They may collect information such as the links you click, your device and browser, your IP address, and whether a booking or purchase happened. Some of them may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites. I don’t receive your name or payment details from these bookings; I only see commission reports. Each partner handles data under its own privacy policy:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I also add a short affiliate disclosure near the top of posts that contain affiliate links.

5. Embedded content from other websites

Some posts and pages include embedded videos or posts from YouTube and TikTok. These embeds load normally when you open the page; they don’t wait for your cookie choice. Embedded content works as if you had visited YouTube or TikTok directly: those companies may set cookies, collect data about you, and track how you interact with the embed, especially if you’re logged in to their sites. Their privacy policies: YouTube/Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy · TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/us/privacy-policy/en.

My site also links to my social profiles (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) and to my Beacons link-in-bio page. Beacons is simply an outbound link page that gathers my links in one place; it’s run by a third-party service (Beacons) with its own privacy practices, and I don’t earn commissions through it. Clicking any of these takes you to that platform, where its own policies apply.

6. How I use your information

I use information to:

  • send you the newsletter you signed up for
  • read, reply to, and follow up on partnership inquiries and emails, and if we work together, manage our collaboration (contracts, deliverables, invoices, and records)
  • understand which guides are helpful and improve the site (analytics)
  • earn affiliate commissions that help keep SheMamaMaps free
  • keep the site secure, prevent spam, and fix problems
  • meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

I don’t use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

7. Who I share information with

I don’t rent or trade my subscriber list. I share information only:

  • With service providers who help me run the site, and only so they can do that job:
    • Automattic (Jetpack / WordPress.com): newsletter delivery and Jetpack Stats (privacy policy)
    • Google (Google Analytics 4, via MonsterInsights): website analytics (Google · MonsterInsights)
    • WPForms: the Partnership Inquiry form, which emails your submission to me; entries aren’t stored on my site (privacy policy)
    • WPConsent: saving your cookie choices (privacy policy)
    • Hostinger: website hosting (privacy policy)
  • With affiliate partners (listed in section 4), through their scripts, cookies, and links, as described in sections 3 and 4.
  • With embedded-content platforms (YouTube, TikTok) when you view a page with their embeds.
  • If required by law, or to protect my rights, my readers, or the site.
  • With your permission, for example if you ask me to introduce you to someone.
  • If SheMamaMaps is ever sold or transferred, in which case this policy would still apply to the information you shared.

My service providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries.

8. How long I keep information

  • Newsletter: I keep your email address until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, I delete your address within 30 days. I may keep a small “do not email” (suppression) record only as long as it’s needed to make sure you aren’t emailed again by mistake.
  • Partnership inquiries and emails: deleted after 2 years, unless a partnership results.
  • Signed partnerships: I keep related records (such as emails, contracts, deliverables, and invoices) for 2 years after the partnership ends, unless the law requires me to keep them longer (for example, tax records).
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months, according to my GA4 data-retention setting. Jetpack Stats data is kept according to Jetpack’s default settings.
  • Cookie choices: 30 days, then the banner asks again.

9. Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from my newsletter anytime with the link at the bottom of any email.
  • Change your cookie choices anytime with the Cookie Preferences link in the footer. Rejecting limits analytics cookies; it doesn’t stop the affiliate scripts described in section 3.
  • Limit affiliate and third-party tracking with your browser settings, a tracker blocker, or the partners’ opt-out options (see section 3).
  • Opt out of Google Analytics across sites with Google’s browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Browser signals: my site doesn’t currently respond to Global Privacy Control (GPC) or “Do Not Track” signals. Please use the cookie banner and the options above instead.
  • Ask about your data: email Travel@SheMamaMaps.com to request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of the personal information I hold about you.

10. Your privacy rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

  • tell you what personal information I have about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your information (unless I need to keep it, for example tax records for a paid partnership)
  • stop using your information for a particular purpose, such as the newsletter

Email Travel@SheMamaMaps.com with your request. I’ll reply within 30 days. I may need to confirm it’s really you, for example by replying from the email address you used with me. You won’t be treated differently for using your rights.

U.S. state privacy rights. Some U.S. states give their residents specific privacy rights, such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. If you live in one of those states, email Travel@SheMamaMaps.com and I’ll respond to your request as the law in your state requires.

Visitors outside the U.S. (EU, EEA, and UK). If GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, I’m the “controller” of your personal information. I use it based on your consent (the newsletter and analytics cookies; you can withdraw anytime), my legitimate interests (answering inquiries, keeping the site secure, and earning affiliate commissions), a contract (managing a partnership we agree on), and legal obligations (business and tax records). You also have the right to restrict or object to how your data is used and to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Your information is processed in the United States, where I’m based.

11. Children’s privacy and my family’s privacy

SheMamaMaps is written for parents and grown-ups planning family trips. It’s not directed to children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent me information (for example by subscribing), email Travel@SheMamaMaps.com and I’ll delete it.

A note about my own family: I share our travel experiences, but I keep my family’s personal details private. I don’t publish or share personal information about my children, such as their full names, schools, or exact home location, and I never share my family’s personal details with partners or advertisers.

12. How I keep information safe

I use reputable providers, keep my site and plugins up to date, use secure (HTTPS) connections, and limit who can access inquiry emails and subscriber lists: just me. No website or email service is 100% secure, so I can’t promise perfect security, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information. If something ever went wrong in a way that affected you, I’d let you know as required by law.

13. Links to other websites

My posts link to hotels, attractions, tours, and other websites. Once you leave SheMamaMaps, that site’s own privacy policy applies, and I’m not responsible for how they handle your information. Please check their policies before sharing personal details.

14. Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle information, I’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, I’ll also mention it in my newsletter or with a notice on the site.
