This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on SheMamaMaps (shemamamaps.com), why I use them, and how you can control them. For everything else about your information, see my Privacy Policy. Questions? Email Travel@SheMamaMaps.com.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser so it can remember things, like your cookie choices, or count how many people read a post. Some are set by my site (“first-party”), and some are set by other companies whose tools I use, such as Google or affiliate partners (“third-party”). Similar technologies, like scripts, pixels, and local storage, work in a similar way, and this policy covers them too.
Your choices in the cookie banner
When you first visit, my cookie banner (powered by WPConsent) lets you Accept All, Reject, or open Preferences. Essential cookies are always on. Your choice is saved for 30 days, then I’ll ask again. You can change your choice anytime:
What “Reject” does and doesn’t do
Rejecting limits analytics cookies (Google Analytics is told not to store its cookies). It does not stop Jetpack Stats, my affiliate partners’ scripts (Stay22 and Travelpayouts), which load on every page, or embedded YouTube and TikTok content, which loads normally. See “How to limit cookies” below for ways to block those.
Cookie categories
1. Essential
Remembers your cookie choices. It can’t be switched off in the banner, but you can block it in your browser (the banner will then show again on each visit).
2. Statistics (analytics)
Helps me understand which guides are read, how people find the site, and what to improve. I use Google Analytics 4 (via MonsterInsights) and Jetpack Stats (by Automattic). Google Analytics runs in Google Consent Mode, so it doesn’t store analytics cookies unless you accept; Google may still receive basic signals without cookies. Jetpack Stats counts visits on every page and may use its own cookies regardless of your banner choice.
3. Affiliate / marketing (third-party)
Stay22 (Let Me Allez) and Travelpayouts (Drive) scripts load on every page as soon as it opens, without waiting for your consent. They create affiliate links and track clicks and bookings so I can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. They may set or read cookies or use similar technologies, and may track activity across websites. These cookies are set by the partners; their names and durations vary and weren’t detected in my last cookie scan. Partners such as Viator, GetYourGuide, and Amazon may set their own cookies on their sites after you click a link.
4. Embedded content (third-party)
Embedded videos and posts from YouTube and TikTok load normally when you open a page that includes them, and those companies may set their own cookies. These weren’t detected in my last cookie scan.

How to limit cookies
- Analytics: click Cookie Preferences in the footer of any page, or the button on this page, and choose Reject or turn Statistics off. You can also use Google’s opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Jetpack Stats, affiliate scripts, and embeds (not controlled by the banner):
- block third-party cookies or turn on tracking protection in your browser settings (most browsers have a “Privacy” or “Cookies” section)
- use a content or tracker blocker extension
- use the partners’ opt-out options: Stay22 (cookie and opt-out choices) · Travelpayouts (cookie policy)
- Delete cookies already stored, in your browser settings.
- My site doesn’t currently respond to Global Privacy Control (GPC) or “Do Not Track” browser signals.
Blocking cookies won’t stop the site from working, but some videos may not play, and I may not get credit for affiliate bookings, which is totally your call.
